A group of nine Business students enrolled in Portfolio Management visited the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) Exhibition displayed in Sohar University on March 16, 2016.

The visit aimed to familiarize the accounting students with the procedures adopted for listing the securities of companies to be traded in their MSM or domestic financial market.

MSM staff introduced the roles and functions of the Capital Market Authority, the agency responsible for the supervision of the MSM, , and the Muscat Depository & Registration of Securities Company, the sole provider in Oman of the registration and transfer of ownership of securities, as well as the safekeeping of the ownership documents.

The students also attended the “Financial Planning & Analysis” lecture conducted in the university.

The focus of the guest lecture conducted by Mr. Raed Hussein Al-Hutei, Awareness & Marketing manager, was to demonstrate the importance of saving the Omani finance culture among students and to explain the different steps in financial planning.
