Shinas College of Technology Celebrates Omans 42nd National Day

Shinas College of Technology ( ShCT), through the Department of Students Activities, pays direct attention to the development of students leadership abilities, skills and talents. Therefore, the department boosted students self confidence by giving them the opportunity to organize the celebrations of the 42nd National Day themselves with the hope that they might be able to show the importance of this day in their hearts and their gratitude to their beloved Oman and her faithful son, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for what he has done and is still doing to serve the peoples of this good country. Student groups prepared to celebrate this immortal day. All students spared no effort to commemorate the anniversary of the 42nd National Day, and they were inspired by their love for the country and her leader. The student, Khaled Nawfali, exhibited his paintings in the colleges reception hall. The exhibition attracted lots of students and college staff. His paintings dealt with several topics showing his outstanding talent and creativity of his art brush which worked in harmony with colors to draw great paintings. The paintings continued to be shown in the exhibition for two days. On the same day the college received students from Talea- alfikr School for Basic Education. They came happily to share the delights of the day of the homeland and citizen with us, and exchanged congratulations with college members on this special occasion .They were singing loudly the beautiful national songs whilst they were passing through corridors around the college. These songs made everyone in the college delighted because they joined children in their cheerfulness of this auspicious day. The national day coincided with launching the first broadcast of ShCT Internal Radio. The media group managed to prepare and present the colleges celebrations of the 42nd National Day. Furthermore, they made a film showing a set of congratulations by the college staff and students to the Omani people and to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said- may God protect him - on this occasion. The film was shown on the plasma screen in the reception hall. Female students of Alqabas group at ShCT conveyed the meaning of loyalty and devotion to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said by holding an amazing national evening which started with a speech of welcome by the student, Sheikha Almkabbal. First, the Holly Quran was recited and then the students performed a play showing variant scenes of Omani womens achievements in the various fields in the era of His Majesty as well as the rights and duties of the individual towards his homeland. The play earned the admiration of the audience. Next, the students completed the national evening with a few words about Omani women said by the two students, Lamia Al-makhmary and Salwa Al-makbaly. Then, Dr. Dean honored working some women in ShCT. After that, a student called Amira astonished the attendance by offering an interactive part which she opened by reciting a poem about His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and completed her part by running an entertaining national competition among a group of attendees. The competition met a significant interaction by the audience. The students also held another cultural competition. They concluded this evening by honoring female winners in the competitions. Through this evening, the students tried to show their feeling of patriotism out of love for their dear home country. Additionally Shct held a carnival which contained outdoor activities in the open courtyard of the college and lots of students participated in those activities. The carnival included several sections such as rare exhibited articles owned by one of the students, patriotic expression with phrases and colors, popular national foods made by mothers of Omani Women\'s Association, and nomadic life embodiment. It is noted that there was a strong presence and interaction from the audience in all competitions of the carnival. The carnival included various parts. ShCT students participated in the carnival through songs, poems, folklores like Shala, Nadba and Maydan, and Alrazfa war and Kaab Bin Malik School joined by marine arts. The carnival atmosphere was full of fun and love and belongingness to Oman. The theatre creativity group also provided an improvisatory sketch which resulted from their interaction with the carnival sections and their desire to take a part with a simple thing to express loyalty to their homeland while boasting about their homeland Oman and their father His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. It is worth mentioning that the Carnival aimed to break the daily routine for students and gave them the opportunity to express and show excitement, joy and happiness on this occasion which is precious and dear to every Omani. The idea of the carnival was brought by five female students and then the rest of the students showed their desire to participate in the college celebrations of the 42nd National Day. And the carnival finished with an evening party of poetry organized by the lighthouse literature group, which was attended by Dr. Ali Bin Saud Mughairy , the Dean of ShCt, and Dr. Ayman Kiyumi , the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. A lot of poets shared in the party like Mariam Alkumy , Mohammed Bin Dhahi Yahyai , Ahmed Mamary , Kama Bathary . The poets recited poems in the various fields of poetry and they managed to depict a national portrait thanks to their poems stemming from their sincere feelings and love for this country and her leader. Then, Ibrahim Sheedi, a student at ShCt, delivered his national poem. Finally, Dr. Ali Mughairy honored all poets and thanked them for attendance.
