The On-the-Job Training Department seeks to create cooperation between the university and the private sector in various fields. Accordingly, at the end of October 2023, coordination was made with the Human Resources Department at Sohar Operation Services LLC to schedule a field visit to learn more about the company. Sohar Operation Services LLC is considered the second largest water desalination plant in the Sultanate. It was established in 2019 in partnership with Spain. It was agreed that the visit would take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, after which a delegation was formed for the visit with the membership of the On-Job Training Department and the Dr. Darwish Al-Kalbani, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research and Innovation. The delegation visited the company at 10 o’clock in the morning, where they were received by Ms. Maysaa Al-Matroushi, Director of Human Resources, and Ms. Juhayna Al-Kindi, the company’s Public Relations Officer. During the visit, the company was introduced in general, and then a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the company’s director, Engineer Abdullah Al-Saadi. At the beginning of the meeting, the director introduced the company, its objectives, its operations and work mechanisms. The objectives of the visit were also addressed and discussed, which focused on providing training opportunities, research and projects that students can benefit from. Engineer Abdullah Al-Saadi also expressed his strong desire to review the terms of the memorandum of understanding, so that he can review it in an effort to clarify a close understanding agreement in order to consolidate relations and exchange common interests and benefits between the two sides. Dr. Darwish Al-Kalbani also expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the company to job seekers, as well as the support for medium and small projects. At the end of the visit, the company team was thanked for the warm reception, coordination of the visit, and willingness to exchange cooperation between the two parties.
