IT Department hosts SITAM 2022
The IT Department of UTAS-Shinas hosted its 3rd Symposium on Information Technology and Applied Mathematics (SITAM) 2022 on 24th May 2022. The one-day online event was graced by his excellency Dr. Saeed Bin Hamad al Rubaie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. The event was attended by faculty members and researchers from colleges and universities across the Sultanate of Oman, as well as India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Algeria. 27 research papers were accepted and presented in the parallel technical paper presentations. The event kicked off with an Inauguration Ceremony at 8:30am. The Keynote Speaker, Vasagam Radhakrishnan, Program Manager, Deliotte Consulting from San Francisco, California talked about “Digital Transformation in Finance”. The dean of UTAS Shinas, Dr Ahmed Said Ahmed Al-Shahri, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the IT department and staff for hosting an event that encouraged students and staff to increase their knowledge through research. Moreover, Ms. Amina Al-Jabri, head of IT department said that this event was part of an effort to develop a culture of research in the department and will continue to seek ways to encourage more students and staff to participate in future research activities. SITAM 2022 is focused on bringing together academic researchers, students, developers and practitioners, to discuss their research findings and encourage them to share their innovative ideas and projects. The event ended on a high note with the announcement of the best research paper.
