The Department of Information Technology at UTAS-Shinas recently hosted a practical-oriented workshop titled "Creating a Database for Small Business using Access 2016" for the community. The workshop took place from 12^th March to 21^st March  2023 and was organized by the Community Engagement Committee.  Led by Mr. Venugopal, a lecturer in the IT section, the workshop aimed to introduce the basic concepts of database creation, including the creation of tables, queries, forms, sub-forms, reports, sub-reports, macros, switchboards, and designing simple applications using MS Access 2016. Practical exercises were included to reinforce the concepts taught. The workshop was attended by 10 Omani students, and the participants found the training to be beneficial in their understanding of database creation. Overall, the event was a great success in providing practical training to members of the community on important IT skills.
