A group of 17 Bachelor of Technology (BTech) students enrolled in Disaster Recovery course visited Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum (ORPIC) Company, on March 20, 2019.

Information Technology (IT) lecturers Mr. Thanigaviel Ganesan and Dr. Satyanarayana Bora accompanied the students.

The industrial visit aimed at acquainting the students with the various technologies used in servers, data centers and Internet of Things (IOT), and identifying the implementation of security, virtualization and back-up solutions.

During the visit, IT Security Officer Mr. Almutasem Abdullah Al Badi explained the importance and implementation of various security features such as confidentiality, availability, and integrity.

SAP Senior Specialist Mr. Mubarak Al-Ismaili discussed the various business applications in the company, while IT Operations Senior Specialist Mr. Ahmed Al-Rushadi demonstrated VMware for virtualization.

Network and Data Center Specialist Mr. Sultan Al-Omrani showed the HP Intelligent Management Center.

Said visit was by arranged by the IT Industrial Visit Committee, in coordination with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Committee.
