ELC conducts remedial classes
The English Language Centre (ELC) started remedial classes on Nov.14, 2013.
As part of the Students Support Committee (SSC) of the ELC, for the first semester of Academic Year 2013-2014, this academic activity was spearheaded by Mr. Hamdan Al Abri.
The remedial classes were handled by Mr. Anand, Ms. Zainab, Ms. Fatima and Mr. Syed Taj.
This academic event primarily aimed at helping students who appear to be significantly behind the expected level.
Administered on a pattern of one session per week (every Thursday) for all Foundation levels (1, 2, 3, & 4), said activity endeavored to address the students’ basic difficulties in writing and grammar.
Registration was open for students who were interested to improve their language levels especially those who scored less than 50% in their midterm examination.
Seven groups were formed for the smooth functioning of the program. Mr. Hussein Al Balushi handled classes for Level -1. Two sessions of Level 2 were conducted by Mr. Ossama and Ms. Nahid ; two sessions of Level 3 were managed by Mr. Thajudeen and Mr. Mohammed Shakeeb and one session of Level 4 was handled by Mr. Johnny.
As one of ELC’s programs to be conducted regularly, the remedial classes are purported to offer valuable support to the students.
“ It gives them a fine opportunity to develop their self-esteem and build up their confidence level.” said Mr. Hamdan Al Abri, the SSC Coordinator.
Meanwhile, a similar activity was conducted by Mr. Hamed Al Qasmi last Academic Year 2012-2013.
