Within the framework of co-operation between the Counselling and Graduates Follow-up Department and the English Language Centre, an awareness lecture entitled “Prevention Is Better than Cure” was organized on October 27 and 28, 2021 AD at the University Theater in the Engineering Building. The event targeted new students in the First Level, in which Mr. Ahmed Al-Farsi, the Head of Counselling and Graduates Follow-up Department, spoke about appealing for the assistance of Allah and strengthening the students’ religious scruples, as well as introducing the services offered by the Department. Mr. Al-Farsi explained that the Department aims to help students and support them in case they face any academic, psychological, or social challenges in an atmosphere of privacy and confidentiality, and that their real future has begun from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas because its students are graduating at a high level of quality in the various labor market fields and in the governmental or private sectors. In addition, Ms. Bushra Al-Maamari and Ms. Nadia Saidia, from the Counselling and Graduates Follow-up Department, talked about the methods of studying, interest in studying, and setting out a plan for studying and educational attainment different from the school stage.  The students were advised on reducing the use of social media and benefiting from them in the field of studying. Mr. Saif Al-Weshahi , the Head of the English language Centre, gave a speech about the challenges that the student may face in the Foundation Year and suggested ways to overcome them. He also explained the importance of learning English at the present time, and modern methods of learning English and active participation in the classroom. At the end of the event, students’ inquiries and questions were answered.
