UTAS-Shinas online induction week 2021-2022

University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas held an online induction week for its new students (Fall Semester, September 2021) for the academic year 2021/2022. 

The induction started on September 20, 2021, and on the first day of the program, there was a welcoming speech delivered by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahri, followed by another speech by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Mr. Ali Al-Alawi. Afterwards, Ms. Nahala Al-Jabaria, an English Lecturer at the English Language Centre, English, showed a video about the English Language Centre and the other facilities available in the University, as well as presented a lecture entitled "Your Journey in the English Language and the Foundation Year Program". After that, Mr. Abdullah Al Balushi from the English Language Center gave a talk about the Distance Learning and How to Use the E-learning System. Then, Dr. Hani Al Balushi from the English Language Center gave a presentation entitled “Learning English in the Foundation Program: Challenges and Solutions”, after which Mr. Hamid Al-Saidi from the Center for Educational Technologies gave a talk on “E-Services and Placement Test Guidelines”.

On the second day, on September 21, 2021, a placement test for mathematics was held in campus in two periods. Educational Technologies Center, Counseling and Graduate Follow-Up Department, Administrative Affairs Department, Information Technology Department, and Student Advisory Council participated in the organization of the induction program. On September 22, 2021 the induction program was resumed through a talk about the services of the Student Council which was presented by the student, Abeer Al Shehhi, and then a lecture on student groups and activities by the student, Mohammed Al-abri. Afterwards, Ms. Bushra Al-Maamari from the Counseling and Graduate Follow-Up Department gave an introduction about the department and its objectives, and talked about the services offered to students, and then Ms. Nadia Al-Saeeda from Counseling and Graduate Follow-Up Department, gave a presentation on “Things of Interest to the Student on the University Campus". After that, Mr. Ahmed Al-Farsi, Head of the Counseling and Graduate Follow-Up Department, gave general advice to students to succeed in life and education. The induction program was concluded with an open dialogue and answering the inquiries of new students at the presence of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Mr. Saif Al Weshahi, Head of the English Language Center and Mr. Yaqoub Al-Saadi and Mr. Nasser Al-Saadi from the Registration Department.
