ITD Students join OCPC 2021
UTAS-Shinas Information Technology Department (ITD) students joined the Oman Collegiate Programming Contest (OCPC) 2021 from 5th to 6th November 2021, at Sultan Qaboos University. Three teams from Shinas campus participated in the event, along with 33 teams from various colleges and universities in Oman, who also took part in the competition. The participants were given 12 sets of programming problems and were required to implement algorithmic solutions using C, C++, Java and Python programming languages. Ms Myra Patalay and Mr Anthony Madlambayan coached the participating students from UTAS Shinas. The competition provided college students (majoring in any computing-related field) the opportunity to demonstrate their problem solving skills; and to collaborate with students from other universities in the Sultanate. The OCPC is the official national organisation that models the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and provides excellent opportunities to participate in regional and international contests. The OCPC qualified 4 teams for the upcoming ACPC (Arab Collegiate Programming Championship) The qualifying teams were from Sultan Qaboos University (2 teams), German University of Technology in Oman (GUTech), and UTAS-Sohar.
