A group of 25 Advanced Diploma students enrolled in Internet of Things (IoT) course visited Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (ORPIC), on March 6, 2019.

Networking lecturers Mr. Thanigaivel Ganesan and Dr. Venkadeshan Ramalingam accompanied the students.

Initiated by the Industrial Visit Committee of the IT Department,  in coordination with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Committee,  the visit aimed at  familiarizing students with the various technologies related to servers, data centers, IoT, security, virtualization and back-up solutions implemented at real time.

The ORPIC staff discussed the company’s different business applications, implementation of security features such as confidentiality, availability and integrity, and various back-up solutions.

They also demonstrated virtualization concept using Virtual Machine Software (VMW).
