The IT Department of UTAS-Shinas recently conducted a community workshop titled “Advanced Computer Management” workshop from 7th May to 9th May 2023. The workshop was held on campus in Lab A-139 and was aimed at providing students and community members with a practical understanding of various operating system management, operating system installation and side loading, file system management, and Disk partition for various platforms. Led by Dr. Bhraguram Thayyil, a lecturer in the Information Technology Section, the workshop covered a range of topics, including the operating system boot loader and BIOS management. Various operating system environments in a single system with multi-boot partitions and file system creation were also presented with practical sessions. Participants learned how to get image files of various operating systems and their Rufus creation with specific file systems and partition strategies. The workshop was highly interactive, with 40 participants attending and engaging in hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations. One of the highlights of the workshop was the opportunity for participants to practice what they learned on an actual operating system environment. This gave them invaluable experience and the confidence to apply their new knowledge in real-world situations. Upon completion of the workshop, participants were awarded certificates to recognize their achievement.
