IT Bachelor Students visit Sohar Aluminum
A group of 16 Information Technology (IT) Bachelor students accompanied by Mr. Prashanth Kumar, IT lecturer, visited Sohar Aluminum (SA) on March 4, 2018 as part of their industry visit requirement in Software Engineering Course.
Ms. Sumaiyah Al Saadi, Security and Basis Administrator, oriented the students about the software development process used in the IT section of the company.
She also explained the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software used and how it evolved through the years.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ahmed Khamis Al-Ajmi, developer, discussed the Design and Testing part of the process. He explained Change Management, Unit Testing and Risk Management templates.
During the visit, the students also visited Data center of the IT section.
SA Administrator Mr. Pradeep shown and explained the function of various servers, cables and security system used in the data center.
The activity ended with a short message from the Software Engineer Mr. Suleiman Surur Al- Mamari who encouraged the students to be more dynamic in learning new technologies as he pointed out that IT constantly evolves.
