The English Club (EC) of the English Language Center (ELC) in collaboration with the Center’s Student Support Committee organized a ‘Debate Competition’ on October 10, 2018, held at Multi-Purpose Hall, Engineering Building.

The debate competition was between students from all levels of the General Foundation Program (GFP) and Post-Foundation Program (PFP). Foundation students were competing against diploma and higher diploma students on a variety of topics.

Mr. Given Chakalisa served as the host and six teachers from ELC acted as jury members. They assessed the debating teams and appointed the winners.

The event was organized to encourage students to use critical thinking and build valid arguments on controversial topics, and to give the students the opportunity to showcase their talents as public speakers.

EC members organized the competition in collaboration with the Center’s Student Support Committee lead by Mr. Karim Hanefioui.  .
