SQU educator delivers ‘Current Trends in ELT’ seminar
Dr. Ali Hussain Al Bulushi, assistant professor from Sultan Qaboos University’s (SQU) Department of Curriculum and Instruction, delivered a seminar titled “Current Trends in English Language Teaching” at the ShCT Multi-Purpose Hall, December 14, 2017.
Dr. Ali discussed the Postmethod Pedagogy as he tackled in passing the various language teaching methods and approaches.
Moreover, Dr. Ali presented some practical activities that may promote negotiated interaction, allow the integration of language skills, and activate students’ intuitive heuristics.
“Empowering teachers to make a change [in the academe] is crucial,” said Dr. Ali who is also currently serving as assistant dean for Training and Community Services, College of Education.
“A lot of teachers have creativity within them, and all they need is to create opportunities to unleash them,” Dr. Ali added.
At the end of the event, ELC Head Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Balushi expressed gratitude to the resource speaker as he awarded Dr. Ali a plaque of appreciation.
Meanwhile, ELC Head of Section for English Language Programs Mr. Ahmed Al Saadi introduced the resource speaker.
Organized by the Staff Professional Development Team headed by Mr. Ossama Sayed, the seminar was moderated by ELC Staff Support Committee Head Mr. Given Chakalisa.
