ELC lecturer presents Research Paper in SETS 2018
English Language Center (ELC) lecturer Mr. Aldrin L. Apolonio presented a research paper entitled “Global Quality Management in the 21st Century: ISO 9001:2015” in Smart Education and Technology Symposium (SETS) 2018, held at Ibra College of Technology, Ibra, Oman, on March 27, 2018.
The study explored the new management paradigm as a result of the process of accreditation under the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) as distinguished from the requirements of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2015).
Specifically, the research looked into the management model as applied in the General Foundation Program (GFP) of the Colleges of Technology (CoTs). The case study method was used to conduct an in-depth study of the particular situations from a very broad field of accreditation.
The research found that, in the GFP, the OAAA generally follows a standards-based accreditation while ISO 9001:2015 adheres to the process-based approach.
Mr. Aldrin is an active member of the Quality Assurance (QA) Committee of the Center. He was one of the authors of the piloted Quality Audit GFP Report back in September, 2015.
