ELC Hosts Webinar on ‘Omani EFL Learners` Perceptions and Motivation Toward Online Learning
ELC lecturer Mr. Behnam Behforouz and guest speaker Mr. Ali Al Ghaithi presented a webinar titled ` Omani EFL Learners` Perceptions and Motivation Toward Online Learning` The webinar was based on an action research they had collaboratively conducted during the academic year, 2020-2021. The research was carried out on 48 Omani participants who experienced online learning and teaching for the first time. The study focused on understanding their level of motivation and their perceptions of online learning. The study also looked at gender difference and the level of motivation among participants. The study revealed that Omani students were motivated to exchange learning and teaching materials through online platforms, with female learners showing more interest in online classes compared to male learners. In addition, the students showed positive perceptions and willingness to continue using the online platforms for the learning process. Mr. Behnam discussed that the study could motivate teachers to focus on using more digital contexts of study to help them design and prepare materials. He also suggested that curriculum developers could introduce more practical learning and teaching techniques suitable for online education. Mr. Hamdan Al Abri, Head of Section thanked the presenters for sharing their insights.
