The ELC hosts online workshop on: Post Pandemic: Socio-Emotional Factors in Class
The SPDT at the English Language Centre hosted an online workshop titled “Post Pandemic: Socio-Emotional Factors in Class” Dr Ali Mathari delivered the workshop on 22nd September 2021, which highlighted the importance of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as part of a high-quality inclusive education system. He pointed out that SEL supports academic performance, school climate, graduation rates, life goals and other important developmental outcomes. He discussed ways that schools and colleges can adopt strategies to address the impact of the pandemic on students’ learning and development. He recommended some useful online courses which could assist teachers in gaining an insight and provide tools for applying SEL in their classes.
Mr Hamdan, HOS at the ELC thanked Dr Ali for providing useful insights and raising awareness of social and emotional factors in teaching and learning, particularly relevant for the post pandemic era.
