The English Club (EC), the official student group of the English Language Center (ELC), conducted “Closing Event for Semester 2” at Theatre, Engineering Building, on March 21, 2018.

A debate competition was conducted between the winners from the 1^st round of debate conducted on February 13, 2018.

Future Leaders comprised of Amal Ibrahim Hussein Al-Ajmi, Atheer Talib Abdallah Al-Ajmi and Hour Ahmed Dhiyab Al-Shibli represented Post- Foundation students while Sparkle group was composed of Hamdah Ali Mohammed Al-Mazrouai, Noor Al Huda Mohammed Sultan Al-Shibli and Nasser Faisal Salim Al-Saidi represented Foundation Program- Level 4 students, with the topic “Social media makes us antisocial.” The Sparkle group which was against the statement won the debate. 

At the end of the program, Certificates of Appreciation were given to active English Club members and cooperative teachers who helped the group in conducting activities for Semester 2, AY 2017-2018.

The program was aimed to increase students’ confidence, knowledge, and self-esteem, enhance students’ ability to structure and organize thoughts, develop students’ ability to provide well-organized arguments and show clear evidence and statistics, encourage teamwork and reward active members and cooperative teachers.

EC under the supervision of Student Support Committee Coordinator Ms. Maryam Al-Aufi organized the program.
