Engineering students visit Sohar Aluminum Power Plant
Twenty-two Bachelor Mechanical Engineering students visited Sohar Aluminum Power Plant (SAPP) on January 29, 2019.
Mr. Hamed Al Sinani, SAPP Control Engineer, welcomed the students and gave them an orientation on the company’s health and safety regulations that must to be followed while inside the company. He also presented the different functions of each department in the power plant.
Plant Engineer Mohammed Al Masoudi, explained in detail the company’s production of electricity. The students learned about gas and steam turbines, generation of electricity by combined cycle, and auxiliary systems to enhance the plant’s performance.
The Industrial visit was organized by the Industry Liaison Committee of the Engineering Department (ED), in coordination with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Department. Mechanical Lecturer Mr. Niyaz Ahamed accompanied the students in the said visit.
