ED students visit Jyothi Switchgear
Thirteen Bachelor Electrical Engineering students enrolled in Project A course visited Jyothi Switchgear Company, Sohar on January 22, 2019.
The visit aimed at familiarizing students with the different types of electrical switchgears and protection.
During the industrial visit, Senior Design Engineer Mr. Vipul Vagadia gave an introduction about switchgears and how they are used in electrical systems to protect the system from high voltages.
General Manager Mr. Prabhat Sharma discussed the following topics: 33/11KV substation metering panel, CT's, PT's, insulators used in panels, bus bar, bus coupler, ring main unit, numerical relays, vacuum tube CB's for 11KV, spring charged CB's (manual and motorized.
Engineering Department (ED) lecturer Mr. Ameer Hamza accompanied the students during the visit.
