A group of 15 Advanced Diploma Mechanical Engineering students visited HARSCO Metals and Minerals, Sohar Port, on November 19, 2019.

During the industrial visit, HARSCO Health and Safety Officer Mr. Ibrahim Al Harassi enumerated the safety precautions that visitors must observe while inside the plant.

Operations Manager Ms. Rubeesh Rasheed explained the plant’s operations and the various metal processing techniques, which are required in extracting metals such as iron from basic raw materials.

The industrial visit aimed at acquainting the students with the processes involved in segregating iron metal powders and slags aggregates from residues obtained from different companies like Jindal shaded.

Engineering Department (ED) lecturer Mr. Raja Thangavelu accompanied the students during the visit.
