ED installs Hybrid Renewable Energy System
The Engineering Department (ED), with the assistance of six students, installed the Hybrid Renewable Energy System at the new Civil Engineering workshop, on March 10, 2019.
The system will be used as an educational tool for a number of Engineering courses, and data obtained from the system may be used for research purposes.
To monitor the performance of the system, various monitoring devices were installed in the college.
The installed system will enable interested academic staff members and students to monitor its efficiency under various weather conditions and different times of the day throughout the whole year.
The installation of Photovoltaic (PV) solar system is part of Mustadeem Program, an initiative aimed towards supporting renewable energy.
Said program is executed by Nafath Renewable Energy Company and funded by BP-Oman in order to increase understanding of renewable energy amongst students, faculty and staff.
