The Engineering Department (ED), Shinas College of Technology (ShCT), organized a two-day workshop tagged as: ‘Renewable Energy Sustainability Workshop’ held at the Multipurpose Hall, Engineering Buidling on February 26- 27^, 2018.

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Abdullah Al Saidi, CEO of Nafath Renewable Energy Company. The speaker outlined various aspects of renewable energy technologies with emphasis on solar photovoltaic and wind energy systems.

About 140 participants, staff and students, attended workshop which covered basic design concepts of hybrid systems including PV array and inverter sizing, load calculations, connection and installation procedures as well as important safety measures when dealing with hybrid systems.  

The workshop is part of Mustadeem Program which also includes the installation of a hybrid solar and wind energy system at ShCT. Mustadeem Program is executed by Nafath Renewable Energy Company and is funded by BP-Oman in order to increase understanding of renewable energy amongst students and universities in the Sultanate.
