ED conducts STEP 2019
The Engineering Department (ED) conducted STEP (Step towards Endurable Partnership) 2019 at the Engineering Building, on June 20, 2019.
Themed “Curriculum Review Engaging Academicians, Technologists and Engineers”, the event welcomed consultants, faculty members from colleges and universities, and representatives from private and public organizations.
The event kicked off with Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Said Al Shahri’s welcome remarks, followed by a brief presentation of the program’s agenda delivered by ED Head Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Balushi.
Dr. Khalifa Al Jabri of Sultan Qaboos University shed light on the topic “Program’s Accreditation: A Tool for Re-Engineering Engineering Education” and highlighted the importance of necessity, requirements, and procedures of accreditation of Engineering programs.
Ms. Amal Al Jabri, Level 1 Coordinator of the English Language Center, elucidated the importance of need analysis to review Post-Foundation courses.
Civil Engineering Head of Section Dr. Mahmoud Khazalah, Electrical Engineering Head of Section Mr. Basavaiah Kalyan Kumar, and Mechanical Engineering Head of Section Mr. Jamal Aslam discussed ED’s program objectives, program outcomes, course objectives, course delivery and assessment schemes through an interactive parallel session.
ED-Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator Mr. Arun Gopinath presented a summary of the feedback given by the participants during the concluding session of STEP 2019. Valuable feedback was provided by various participants related to review of curriculum.
Dr. Shahri and Dr. Balushi extended their gratitude to the guest participants and organizers of the said program.
