The Industry and Community Engagement Committee of the Engineering Department (ED) conducted a site visit for its Civil Engineering students on December 4, 2019.

Accompanied by ED lecturers Dr. Baskar Gopalan and Mr. Mohammed Ashfaq, the 21 students visited a construction site in Shinas where a school, a project of the Ministry of Education, is currently under construction.

The industrial visit aimed at acquainting the students with concepts and various techniques used in the construction of foundation, plinth beam, reinforcement, beam and column.

Ministry of Education Civil Engineer Ahmed Saif Al Hamdi and Structural Engineer Ahmed Magid discussed the different constructional drawings related to school construction. They also trained the students how to read these drawings.
