A 10-member team from Shinas College of Technology (ShCT) visited the International Maritime College of Oman (IMCO), Sohar City, on October 10, 2016.

The benchmarking initiative focused on the practices of the two learning institutions in curriculum development processes, academic integrity systems and processes, assessment practices, entry and exit standards, and peer observation.

Led by Quality Assurance Unit Head Dr. Syed Sulaiman, the ShCT team was composed of faculty from the Engineering Department(ED), English Language Center (ELC), and the Information Technology Department(IT).

Other members of the team include Dr. Ahmed Al Balushi (Chairman, Plagiarism Awareness Committee (PAC), Dr. Gogula Radha (ED’s QA Coordinator), Mr. Mahesh Aphale (ED’s Specialization Committee member), Mr. Nasser Al Handasi (ELC’s Head of Section for Curriculum and Teaching Methods); Mr. Hussain Al Mamari (ELC QA and PAC committee member), Mr. Elmo Purpura (ELC QA Coordinator), Mr. Senthil Kumar (ELC Level 3 Coordinator), Dr. Mary Jane (IT QA Coordinator), and Mr. Aijaz Ahmed (IT’s Specialization Committee member).

The IMCO team was led by Mr. Amer Al Habsi (QAM Head) and the members include Mr. John Atkins (Head, Academic Development), Mr. Benjamin Samit (Head, Maritime Engineering), Mr. Amin Firouzi (Head, Process Engineering), Mr. Pani (Head, Logistics and Transport Management), and Mr. Falah Al Jabri (Head, FND).
