SHCT-OJT held a seminar on "Technical Education"

On-The-Job Training Department (OJT) held a seminar on "Technical Education at Shinas College of Technology" on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 9:00 AM. The seminar was attended by 30 employee representatives from 20 companies of the top companies in Sohar Port in addition to the Administration of Sohar Industrial area where some of the companies also contributed to the symposium's Wadi Al-Jizzi Power Company, Mawarid Mining and Bank Sohar. The symposium started by welcoming speech done by Dr. Ali Bin Saud Al-Mughairi (Asst. Dean for Academic Affairs) a in which he expressed a College graduate of a promising generation would cope with the requirements of the labor market. In addition he was referred to the disciplines offered in College and sealed thanks to attend. This was followed by the College's video which provides a snapshot of the college and its achievement and its specialties. The Mr. Ali Bin Mahmood Al-Balushi(ELC Representative) start records the status of English Language Center to give the audience an idea about foundation program, in which fresh students are undergoing in the first year of College's study. After that, heads of academic departments each made a presentation on his/her department and disciplines currently on programs and what will be soon opened (new specialization). They also concerned on services and facilities offered by our College for the cooperated companies. The presenters of academic department were respectively: Mr. Ali-Al-Obeidani (Lecturer, Business Studies Department) Dr, Mahmoud Khaza'leh (HoD Engineering) and Dr. Mary Jane Aragon (HoD IT). The conclusion of the seminar was with a presenter Ms. Fatma Al-Mamari (Specialist on industrial relations-OJT Department) focus on the types of training, cooperated companies in both training and recruitment fields. Followed by the supported video on training issues. There was a break for a quarter of an hour (since 10:30AM) and then all audience returned back to the all to get rich seminar by discussion and suggestion which was part of praise on the outcomes of the college where the debate began by Mr. Walid Al-Shukili (Training Official Brazilian Company Vale, who praised the Regiment, who was employed by the company and then Mr. Ramesh Gopal (Executive Manager -Sharq Sohar Iron & Steel Rolling) emphasize the quality of training programs and supervision system done by our College. This was followed by dialogues and debate of the rest. In conclusion, the seminar was followed by tour in the Major Fair, which included the most prominent projects, students in academic departments and the accompanying tour in different laboratories, workshop and laboratories of the College. At the end of the tour, there was lunch, in which continued the exchange of fruitful dialogues between the parties which have expressed the audience impressed when they saw significant progress in college and have express willingness to continue cooperation with our College -were then bid farewell to the delegations to go their companies in the conservation and peace.
