On Behalf of the Community Engagement Committee, the Business Studies Department held an online workshop titled “Financial Technology” on 25^th May 2022. The resource speaker, Mr. Hatim Dawood Al-Lawati, consultant and researcher in Financial Technology gave an overview about the new science of financial technology and explained how it can be implemented in Omani commercial banks to contribute in the evolving digital economy. He discussed the Fintech market size and its applications mainly, the Islamic Financial Technology. The workshop was attended by 28 external participants and students of the university. The session ended with an open discussion with the participants about the main challenges of Fintech from a global and local perspectives. The event was facilitated by Ms. Iman Al-Rubaiai, Accounting HOS, Dr. Vimal Kumar and Ms. Amel Radouch, Business Lecturers.
