IT Club Hosts Junior Programmer’s Club
The IT club organized a Junior Programmer’s camp on 22th February 2022 as part of a community outreach initiative. Members from the IT Club, under the supervision of Ms. Bushra Said Al Mamari, welcomed students and teachers from ten different schools across Shinas. The students from grade 6 and 7 were offered breakfast and then guided by the IT club members to the Cisco Laboratory A140 in the main building, to start the programming workshop using Scratch software. The workshop which lasted 2 hours was prepared and conducted by Ms. Isra Al Mamari, President of IT Club and Mr. Mohammed Al Harasi, IT Club Public Relations Officer. During the session, Dr. Ahmed Al Shari, ADAA, and Ms. Amina Al Jabri, IT-HOD, visited the workshop and warmly welcomed the school students, while the guest teachers were taken for a short tour around the university campus to introduce them to the variety of facilities at the university. At 12 pm, the students went to the Multi Purpose Hall for creative activities such as drawing and coloring. They also got a chance to use the Virtual Reality glasses. The day ended with lunch and a group photo with their schoolmates and teachers. The IT club members distributed souvenirs with a printed photo for each student. The junior students and the teachers said that they thoroughly enjoyed the event.
