IT Alumni and OJT Students attend Android Workshop
With the aim to enrich the application development skills of alumni and OJT Students of the IT Department, the IT Alumni Committee held a 5-day application development workshop entitled “Real Time Application Development in Android” from 27th to 31st March 2022 in Room A-139 Main Building.
The workshop focused on developing a chat application in Android using Google Firebase as its database. Mr. Syed Ibrahim Hussain, IT Lecturer from the Information Technology Department, served as the mentor of the workshop. He covered the following subtopics: Google Firebase Authentication concepts, Google Firebase Realtime Database concepts, Connecting Firebase with Android, RecyclerView in Android, and Deployment of an Android app.
The event culminated with the giving of certificates to participants who successfully completed the workshop. A total of seven Alumni and OJT students received certificates awarded by Ms. Salama Said Al-Kalbani, Head of the Networking Section and IT Alumni Committee Member, and Dr. Shija Gangadharan.
