HE Dr. Saeed Bin Hamad Al- Rubaie President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Visits University’s Shinas Branch
His Excellency Dr. Saeed Bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, President of the newly established University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) visited the University’s Shinas Branch with his 5-member team on 13 December 2020. The team was given a warm welcome by the UTAS-Shinas management led by the Dean Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Mamari. The purpose of their visit was to get themselves acquainted with the UTAS-Shinas’s progress, achievements, and its existing resources.
The tour was preceded with a brief presentation and discussion by the Dean. He presented general information on campus profile and the progress of UTAS-Shinas towards fulfilling its Vision and Mission. The Dean highlighted the research profile of the University and the current research achievements, collaborations, and the progress of the TRC funded research projects in Business Studies, Engineering and Information Technology departments. Dr. Ahmed presented the student achievements of the UTAS-Shinas in various national and international competitions particularly the visit of the Information Technology students to China for Huawei competitions. The team was also explained about the various locally developed online-systems to support student learning and administrative tasks. The team was taken for the tour of the university departments, laboratories and practical workshops. The team met and interacted with students whose research project funded by the TRC and the Industry sector.
The visit of the UTAS president ended on a positive note. HE The President Dr. Saeed Bin Hamad Al-Rubaie praised the achievements of Shinas in terms of its linkages with Industry and community and its research collaborations. He was very impressed with the progress done during the past period and advised the management to improve further. He believed that with the given staff capabilities and physical resources, UTAS-Shinas will achieve greater success in the coming years and will contribute to innovation and creativity among its students.
