The Engineering Department of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Shinas organized an Industrial Visit for B.Tech students who enrolled for the course of Power System Operation & Reliability to OETC-Load Dispatch Center, Mawalleh, and Muscat on 7th February 2017. The vvisitingteam comprised of 20 Students and 2 faculties, Mr. Arun S Gopinath and Mr. Abdulaziz Al Mamari
Students benefitted from an understanding of the actual methodologies followed by OETC-Load Dispatch Center, Mawalleh, which operates the main electricity transmission network from the generating stations to the distribution load centers in all governorates of Sultanate of Oman. The students experienced the SCADA platform and its role in implementing the reliable system of transmission of generated power from different power generating stations to its utilities like DISCOMS, PDO and GCC interconnect in UAE.
Mr. Hassan Ali Salim Al Nadabi and Mr. Abdallah Al Hanshi, Operation & Planning Engineers of OETC’s Load Dispatch Center welcomed the group. They presented the operations of OETC and its Load Dispatch Centre. Realization of the theoretical concepts and practical aspects they studied during their course Power System Operation & Reliability were experienced during the visit.
