A team of ELC staff members visited Sultan Qaboos University on Thursday 21^st of April 2022, with the aim of exploring the SQU experience in developing a Self Study Center for foundation students. The team consisted of three ELC members, Dr. Hani Al Balsuhi, Nasser Al Hindasi, and Behnam Behforouz. The team looked at five different means to enhance self-study learning at SQ, namely, Extra-Curricular Activities Centre (ECA), Self-Access Centre,  Writing Centre, Tutorial Centre  CPS Library.  Student support coordinator, Karleen Cambridge from the Centre for Preparatory Studies  guided the ELC Shinas team. During the visit Ms Karleen Cambridge introduced the M-reader website (developed by a university in Japan) which they use to enhance reading skills in the foundation program as a self-study tool.  The team members were also introduced to the digital library, and shown how to get access to different story readers from free sites such as Vocab Today and Free Graded Readers.
