The ELC Delvers Effective Email Writing Workshop in Collaboration with the Community Engagement Committee
On Monday, November 28, 2022, the Community Engagement Committee in collaboration with the English Language Centre of UTAS-Shinas held a presentation on Effective Email Writing for the Administration staff. The presentation was led by Mr. Johnny Kwashie Lanyon, ELC Lecturer and member of the Community Engagement Committee, and was attended by both the HoC and HoS of the Engineering Department and ELC staff.
During the presentation, Mr. Johnny highlighted the importance of clear and concise communication in business emails. He emphasized the need to use a professional tone and structure emails logically, with a clear subject line and introduction. He also provided tips on how to avoid common mistakes such as using overly casual language or including too much information in a single email.
In addition, Mr. Johnny demonstrated how to use formatting tools such as bullet points and bolding to make emails more visually appealing and easier to read. He also discussed the importance of proofreading emails before sending them and provided some resources for employees to use to improve their email writing skills.
Overall, the attendees received the presentation well and found the tips and techniques useful. The attendees expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to improve their email writing skills and felt that the presentation would help them communicate more effectively in their daily work.
