As part of Staff Professional Development, the English Language Centre hosted a webinar on 13^th December 2022 titled “Promoting Teaching Practices based on the Seven Principles of Learning”  The session was facilitated by Dr. Hani Al Balushi,  Senior English Lecturer at UTAS, Shinas, who shared his expertise in Learning Principles that can be related to teaching practices in the classroom. Dr Hani emphasized the seven principles of learning as: Prior Knowledge Activation, Knowledge Organization, Students’ Motivation, Mastery Development, Targeted Feedback, Providing Productive Climate, and Self-directed Learning.  Each of the principles was elaborated on and connected to real-life classroom teaching practices. The attendees shared their opinions and current classroom practices on various interactive methods, as Dr Hani demonstrated some strategies on how to promote the seven principles of learning.  The participants consisted of teaching faculty of UTAS, Shinas external guests. The Staff Professional Development Team and the HoC, Mr. Saif Al Weshahi congratulated the presenter and honoured him with a Certificate of Appreciation.
