The Industrial Committee of the Engineering Department organized a site visit to a villa construction site in Shinas on 26^th October 2022, for the students of the ‘Advanced RC Design’ course, at the bachelor’s level in Civil Engineering at UTAS-Shinas.

Mr. Basharath Ali, Site supervisor, Al Shamil Leading Engineering consultancy, Shinas and Mr. Mohammed Ashfaq, Faculty of Civil Engineering section, from the Engineering Department, UTAS-Shinas, described the structural details of the building, various stages of building construction and the arrangement of reinforcements in beams and slabs, columns and footings, as per the architectural drawings and specification. A good interaction and discussion took place between the engineers and the students visiting the construction site.

Dr. Maria Rajesh, Mr. Mohammed Ashfaq and Mr. Haitham Al Shehhi, Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTAS-Shinas, guided the students during the site visit. The visit provided students with a better understanding of the various stages of building construction.
