NetRiders competitions provide students with hands-on practice and experience in a competitive environment, a chance to test their skills and recognize their weaknesses, showcase their knowledge, and create interactive networking skills as well as new friendships across the world. For instructors, this is a great opportunity to lead students and showcase teaching skills as well.

There are three rounds in the CCNA competition, and two rounds in each of the ITE and CCENT competitions. Various prizes will be distributed to the winners of each category, with the top prize of a study trip to San Jose, California, USA, awarded to five winners of the final round in the CCNA category. Other prizes include CCNA and CCNA Security certification voucher exams.

These qualifiers were coached by four Networking faculty members: Mr. Bhaskar (CCENT), Mr. Bernard (CCNA), and Mr. Naheed and Mr. Nouman (ITE).

Networking Lecturer Ms.Amina Salim Mohd Al-Jabri coordinated this competition.

“The competition allows our students to put into practice their networking skills and best practices learned in the classroom. In addition, students have a chance to improve their soft and emotional skills of teamwork, collaboration, time management as well as confidence in what they have learnt in the classroom”, Ms. Amina said.

Out of the 37 participants from ShCT, 10 students competed in CCNA, 12 students in CCENT, and 15 students in ITE.

IT Department Head Dr. Mary Jane Aragon, and Networking Head of Section Mr. Syed Mehr supported the competition.
