ELC Faculty Attend Oman 16th International ELT Conference
Nine ELC lecturers participated in the Oman 16th International English Language Teaching (ELT) Conference held at Sultan Qaboos University, Al Khoud, Muscat, Oman on April 21-22, 2016.
Ms. Amal Al Jahwari, Ms. Safiya Al Ajmi, Ms. Liza Mathew, Ms. Maryam Al-Aufi, Dr. Karthikeyan Chockalingam, Mr. Ariyaputhiran Vinayakam, Dr. Kalyana Chakravarthi, Mr. Vinod Kumar and Dr. Joseph Dayag (also a presenter) attended the two-day international conference.
Themed “ELT: Ideal versus Reality”, the conference encouraged ELT professional practitioners “to reflect on their underlying beliefs about, and existing practices of, the reality of their teaching situation in relation to the ideal.”
The two-day event aimed “to raise questions, encourage debate and consider the focus of the direction in which we [ELT educators] are heading in our profession.”
Oman International ELT Conference is organized and conducted annually by Sultan Qaboos University, under the leadership of Mr. Khalfan Al-Kemyani.
Concurrently, the organizers also hosted the Middle East-North Africa Writing Centers Association (MENAWCA) 2016 Conference, which allowed the participants to attend the MENAWCA presentations.
