CRC Member Presents in Oman International ELT Conference
ELC lecturer Dr. Joseph Dayag presented a paper at the Oman 16th International English Language Teaching (ELT) Conference held at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, April 21-22, 2016.
A member of ShCT’s College Research Committee (CRC), Dr. Dayag co-presented with Dr. Marlon Manuel, a medical English lecturer at Sohar Nursing Institute.
Dr. Dayag and Dr. Manuel delivered a paper presentation titled “Code Switching in Omani EFL Classrooms: Students’ Perspective.”
The educator-researchers posited that code switching is useful in Omani EFL classrooms provided that it is used judiciously.
Dr. Dayag and Dr. Manuel also suggested that code switching facilitates EFL learning because it helps Omani students (especially the beginners) to construct and reconstruct meaning as they learn the target language.
