Diploma 1- All Engineering Sections


GOAL:
 
To provide graduates an integrated educational experience that develops their ability to apply pertinent knowledge to solving basic engineering problems and to prepare students for an assistant technician career, and provide them with the sufficient foundation to continue upper-division studies.

OBJECTIVES:
 
The program should enable the student to:
  • Contribute to society in a broad range of careers in engineering and industrial sectors.
  • Flourish professionally in an increasingly international and rapidly changing world.
  • Effectively understand and use some of the modern Engineering tools and equipment.
  • Develop skills for clear communication and responsible Teamwork, and to inculcate professional attitudes and ethics, so that one is prepared for the complex modern work environment.
  • Acquire sufficient breadth and depth for successful subsequent upper-level studies, or lifelong learning.
  • Develop and apply critical thinking skills, enhancing the ability to address problems in engineering.
  • Acquire technical skills necessary to enter careers in the Operation, and/or maintenance of basic engineering systems

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:
  • Demonstrate an appropriate basic knowledge, techniques, skills, and tools of modern engineering, including the use of modern computer-based technologies such as the use of professional software, and the use of modern electronic media, effectively in the engineering practice.
  • Apply knowledge of: 
  • (a) Science and engineering to comprehend the performance of basic engineering technologies.
  • (b) Foundation mathematics, including basic calculus, and college algebra, in support of basic engineering technologies.
  • Conduct basic experiments in engineering, and make Engineering measurements.
  • Apply basic computer programming, and software skills in the solution of basic engineering problems.
  • Function effectively on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Communicate effectively through a series of peer and faculty reviews, to include oral and written reports.
  • Employ study skills and computer knowledge for lifelong learning for a successful career in engineering.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate the basic knowledge of contemporary global and societal issues and their relationship to ethics and engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality, timeliness, and Continuous improvement.
  • Apply health safety environment rules, and able to read and interpret manuals.
  • Contribute to society in a broad range of careers in engineering and industrial sectors.
